Association Mechanism for Extraction of Propionic Acid by Trioctylamine
Abstract:
The extraction of propionic acid in organic phase has been carried out by using trioctylamine(TOA) as an extractant, n-octanol as a diluent. By FTIR technique the fraction of the ion-pair extracted species(Ⅰ) and apparent equilibrium constant K11 were estimated. The results showed that the Ⅰ values obtained in this process depended on the association ability of ion-pair between propionic acid and TOA, concentration of TOA and solubility of the extracted species in organic phase.
