Reduction of 4-nitroketones with TiCl4-Zn reagent affords △'-pyrrolines(2);a special case is the formation of 8-azabicyclo[3,2,1]octane(4) from 4-nitro-1,7-alkadione(3) by the same method;the stereochemistry has been confirmed by X-ray crystal structure determination of (4a).
