Biomimetic Crawling Motion of Soft and Slender Gel-worm

摘要: Inspired by the locomotion of terrestrial limbless animals, the present work attempt to study the motion of biomimetic system based on poly(vinyl alcohol)/dimethylsulfoxide gel. The system was operated in air by employing a non-contacted DC electric field. The results showed that the gel exhibited a long-range snail-like motion and had a very fast response rate.
