Oxidation of Pyridine and Control of NO_x Formation on Metal Oxide Catalysts

Formation of nitrogen oxides in the oxidation of pyridine over different γ-Al₂O₃ supported oxide catalysts has been studied in the temperature range of 200~700℃. The oxi-dation activity and the ability to control NO_x formation were found to be decreased in the or-der: Ag-O > Cu-O > Mn-O > Cr-O > Fe-O > Co-O > Ni-O > V-O > Ce-O. NO_x formation con-trol ability appeared in relation to the basicity of the catalyst surface.
