Synthesis of 1,13-(Substituted methylene)-α-hydroxymethylcyclododecanol and Conformational Analysis of Possible Stereoisomers

Nine title compounds were synthesized from α-ethoxycarbonylcyclododecanone by reduction and condensation with aldehydes or ketones.Their structure was confirmed by IR, MS,¹ NMR and elemental analysis.Conformational analysis of possible stereoisomers was carried out and the result was supported by ¹ NMR.The pesticidal activities were examined and some of them found to be effective in promoting the growth of plant.
