Electrochemical and Spectroelectrochemical Characterization of Mononitrotetraphenylporphyrin and Its Complexes with Zn(Ⅱ) and Cu(Ⅱ)

The electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical behavior of 7-nitro-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin, (NO₂)TPPH₂ and its complexes (NO₂)TPPM, M=Zn(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ) have been studied by cyclic voltammetry and in situ UV-Vis spectrochemistry in dichloromethane. By cyclic voltammetry the compounds underwent four reversible reduction and oxidation steps, the redox process involved only the porphyrin π system. A mechanism of redox reaction has been proposed and confirmed by UV-Vis spectrum measurements.
