Synthesis and Antitumor Activity of Glycyrrhetic Acid Derivatives

Six new glycyrrhetic acid derivatives were synthesized from the reaction of di(2-chloroethyl)aminophosohonyl dichloride(4) with methyl glycyrrhetinate(1), methyl-11-deoxy glycyrrhetinate(2), and 3-U-30-dioxy-12-ene oleanane(3), respectively. Their structures were confirmed by MS, ¹H NMR and elemental analysis. The preliminary antitumor activity tests against EAC cells both in vitro and in rovo showed that the new compounds especially Ⅰ_a and Ⅰ_b exhibited a good antifumor activity in comparison with the nitrogen mustard.
