WO₃ electrochromic films were prepared on ITO glass substrates by the sol-gel method.The precursor sodium tungstate was converted into tungstenic acid by cation-exchange.Ethanol and PVA were used as additives to improve the performance of the film.The effects of additives and annealing temperature were discussed.The experimental results indicate that the film annealed at 75℃ show predominant electrochromic performance.The film has the advantages of distinct color change,short response time,excellent stability and long cycle life.It is in prospect of being used in electrochromic devices.
