Biomimetic Synthesis of 1-Naphthyl Cyclohexyl Ketone

Based on the one-carbon unit transfer reaction of tetrahydrofolate coenzymes,α-naphthyl cyclo-hexyl ketone was synthesized successfully with benzoimidazolium salt as the tetrahydrofolate coenzyme model at formic acid oxidation level and Grignard reagent as a nucleophile to which one carbon unit was transferred via addition-hydrolysis reaction.This provides a new convenient biomimetic synthesis method to the title compound.The α-naphthyl cyclohexyl ketone was characterized by means of IR spectra,MS and ¹H NMR.The reaction mechanism and the effects of reaction conditions on the yield were investigated.
