A new catalyst with quaternary ammonium cation activated polyether chains immobilized on silica gel was applied to promote the reations of KI with n-C₄H₉-Br and KSCH with n-C₄H₉Br. The new catalyst showed much significant activity over other PEG functionalized silica gel.
