Ionic liquid [bmim][BF₄] acts as solvent and promoter for synthesis of halo-containing N-arylphthalimides

A new synthetic process of N-arylphthalimide and halo-containing N-arylphthalimides through the reaction between phthalic anhydride and aromatic amines bearing halo groups in [bmim] [BF₄] was described, ionic liquid [bmim] [BF₄] acted as the dual role of solvent and promoter.
