The oxidation on 1,4-substituted Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines with nitrosonium tetrafluorohorate (NO⁺BF₄^-) in acetonitrile gave Hantzsch pyridines in good yields. In some cases the dealkylation occurred. The evidences to draw the mechanism were presented.
