A mesoporous titanium/silicon-containing montmorillonite-based catalytic materials has been synthesized by novel gallery-templated techniques. XRD, SEM, framework IR, and N₂ adsorption-desorption isotherms provided evidence of the formation of Si/Ti pillars. The synthetic materials show potential catalytic application for hydroxylation of phenol with peroxide.
