Received Date: 27 February 2006

A novel Ti-doped M-site deficient olivine LiFePO₄, i.e. Li_0.95Fe_0.95Ti_0.05PO₄, was synthesized by a solid-state reaction method. XRD and FTIR were used to characterize the as-prepared samples. As a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, Li_0.95Fe_0.95Ti_0.05PO₄ exhibited improved rate capability.
