SYNTHESIS OF A SILICA-SUPPORTED CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE PLATINUM COMPLEX AND ITS CATALYTIC BEHAVIORS FOR HYDROGENATION OF ETHYL BENZOATE

A new natural polymeric catalyst,silica-supported carboxymethyl cellulose platinum complex(abbr.as SiO₂-CMC-Pt)has been found to catalyze the hydrogenation of ethyl benzoate to ethyl cyclohexanecarboxylate in about 100% yield at 60-70℃ and 1 atm of hydrogen pressure.The turnover number could amount to 925 when reacted for 42 h without deactivation of the catalyst.
