An Impregnation Method of CeO₂ Contanining Fused Iron Catalyst for Synthetic Ammonia Production

A porrous support has been obtained from spherical fused iron catalyst after its potassium ions were dissoluted out by water. Impregnation such a dried porrous support with a mixture of Ce(NO₃)₃ and KNO₃ gave a catalyst with a higher activity for ammonia synthesis. The presence of CeO₂ in the catalyze after calcination was confirmed by X-ray analysis. The results showed that the optimum ratio of K⁺ to Ce³⁺ in impregnation mixture was 1:1.
