SYNTHESIS AND PROPERTIES OF POLYMETHIN CYANINE DYES CONTAINING INDOLE END GROUP

Several triearbocyanine and tetramethinestyryl-cyanine dyes containing indole end group were synthesized from trimethylindoline quaternary salt. The structures of the dyes were confirmed by elemental analyses, IR spectra and ¹H NMR spectroscopy. Some indotricarbocyanines with N,N-diphenyl amino group on the meso positions of the bridges of heptamethine chains are well soluble in 1,2-dichloroethane.
