INVERSE SUSPENSION POLYMERIZATION OF ACRYLAMIDE

The inverse suspension polymerization of acrylamide has been carried out in the presence of emulsifier Span 20 and Span 80, and K₂S₂O₈ as initiator. The polymerization rate R_p was found to be proportional to[M]^0.13 and to [I]^0.11, and the molecular weight of polymer M_w varied with[M]^1.1 and[I]^0.11 respectively. The overall activation energy for polymerization of aerylamide at 40~50℃ was calculeted to be 30.5 kJ/mol.
