AlCl₃ which was activated by heating with aluminum powder reacts with RECl₃ in benzene solution giving two new neutral arene complexes, RE(C₆H₆) (AlCl₄)₃C₆H₆ (RE=La, Nd).The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra measurement. The molecular structure of necdium containing complex has been determined. It's isomor-phous and isostructural with Sm(C₆H₆) (AlCl₄)₃C₆H₆. The Nd-C and Nd-Cl bond lengths are respectively longer than Sm-C and Sm-Cl bond lengths in corresponding Sm-containingcomplex.
