The crystal and molecular structure of[Eu(NO₃)₃]₄(C₁₂H₂₄O₆)₃ have been determined from single-crystal x-ray diffraction data. The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C₂/m with Z=2.Lattice parameters are:a=28.772(6), b=11.142(2), c=12.024(2)Å, β=112.63(2)°.The structure was solved by Patterson and Fourier techniques and refined by least-squares techniques to R=0.063 for 1667 reflections. The structure contains three crystallographically distinct ions in the ratio 1:1:2:(1)[Eu(NO₃)₆]^3- with C_2h symmetry, (2)[Eu(NO₃)₂(C₁₂H₂₄O₆)]⁺ with the same symmetry, (3)[Eu(NO₃)₂(C₁₂H₂₄O₆)]⁺ with a disordered polyether on a C₁ symmetry site.The two positions of the disordered polyether are staggered by 32°.
