ON THE CHEMICAL POLISHING OF BRASS ARLICTES WELDES WITH SILVER SOLDER

A mixture of sulfuric, hydrochloric, and nitric acids are commonly used in chemical polishing of copper/brass articles as a pretreatment medium. The surface of the articles welded with silver solder has been investigated by using XPS, EDXM, XRD and TEM techniques, The results showed that the blackening of the surface of the seam is due to the precipitant sence of Ag₂SO₄, Ag₂O, and silver particles on it.
