Heteropoly molybdotungstophosphoric acids (salts) with formula Ln-PMo₆W₆O₄₀·xH₂O (Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd) and ZnHP Mo₆ W₆O₄₀·xH₂O were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV spectrometry, and x-ray diffraction.The thermal stabilities of the compounds were as follows:solid acids > rareearth salts > Zn salt.The mechanism of reduction of the heteropolyanion in aqueous solution was proposed.
