Study on the Mixed Reverse Micellar Aggregates Formed from AOT and Polymer Surfactants

The aggregation behavior of AOT(bis(2-ethylhexyl)-sodium sulfosuccinate) mixed with polymer surfactants GP330(glycerin polyoxypropyl ether) or L61(poly(PEO-b-PPO) in nonpolar solvents and the luminescence behavior of ruthenium tris(2,2'-bipyridine) in the mixed reverse micelles have been studied. The results indicated that CMC of the system increased with increase in mole ratio of the polymer to AOT, but it couldn't be measured by the water solubilization method when the mole ratio increased to 1:1, and that the fluorescence intensity of the probe decreased with increase in water content in the reverse micelles and the emission λ_max shifted to longer wavelengths. The results also indicated that increase in content of polymer surfactants could cause the hydration to be completed in lower W₀(mole ratio of H₂O to surfactant in organic phase) value.
