The divalent Sm complex supported by Schiff base ligand [2-OC₆H₄CH=N(2,6-ⁱPr₂C₆H₃)]₂Sm(THF)₂ has been prepared by the reaction of [2-OC₆H₄CH=N(2,6-ⁱPr₂C₆H₃)]₂Na with SmI₂ in THF. It exhibits a good catalytic activity for the polymerization of X-caprolactone, and the polymer obtained has a narrow molecular weight distribution.
