In a cell without a septum, Ti alkoxide complex was synthesized by electrochemical dissolution of titanium. A CH₃COOH solution of 0.20 mol/L (CH₃COO)₂Ba was added into the above solution at pH 8.5. The xerogel was obtained by drying in vacuum for 24 h and hydrolysis of the mixed solution. The xerogel was heated at 350℃ for 2 h to obtain the nano-BaTiO₃ powder. IR, H NMR, TG-DTA, XRD and TEM were used to investigate the structure of the nano-BaTiO₃. The results show that the complex is Ti(OCH₂-CH₃)_(4-y)(acac)_y, and the precursor contains acac^- and Ac^- groups, which can prevent it from aggregation in the course of hydrolysis and drying. The xerogel has an average particle size of 15~20 nm, and the nano-sized particle BaTiO₃ is 15~40 nm in diameter. This method can reduce the temperature of synthesizing nano-BaTiO₃ effectively compared with the current sol-gel method.
