The mononuclear containing N-donor ligand Ni(Ⅱ) complex [Ni(py)3(H2O)3](1,5-nds) (py=pyridine, 1,5-nds=1,5-naphthalene-disulfonate anion) was synthesized by slow evaporation method in water. It was characterized by X-ray crystal diffraction, IR, thermal analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy, etc. The characterization results of X-ray single crystal diffraction show that the crystal of the complex crystallized in monoclinic system with space group C2/c. The unit cell parameters include a=1.56946(17) nm, b=1.21995(12) nm, c=1.45471(16) nm, β=14.5471(16)°, V=2.7651(5) nm3, Z=4. The magnetic and fluorescent properties of the complex were studied.
