Moral education is the fundamental mission of higher education institutions. Seamlessly integrating ideological and political elements into classroom instruction is beneficial for guiding students to establish a correct worldview, values, and life perspective, thereby becoming qualified successors of socialism. Taking Tu Youyou’s groundbreaking work on “artemisinin extraction” as an example, which led her to become the first Chinese native scientist awarded the Nobel Prize in science, this paper focuses on enhancing the teaching process concerning “the chemical potential of any component in an ideal-dilute solution”, by combining the principles of the “distribution law” outlined in the multi-component systems of thermodynamics. The aim is to help students fully appreciate both the direct guiding role that principles play in practical applications and the invaluable contribution traditional Chinese culture makes towards solving real problems. Furthermore, students could comprehend the inevitable trajectory of scientific discovery as well as the sacrifices and rewards that scientists experience in their continuous ascent to the peaks of scientific achievement. Ultimately, this approach will inspire students to love our motherland deeply and apply their acquired knowledge and wisdom towards contributing to the socialist development.
