The project titled “Virtual Teaching and Research Platform for Chemistry (Education) Major Construction in Western Universities of China” was jointly proposed by six leading teaching universities situated in western China. The proposal received endorsement from the Ministry of Education of China on February 15, 2022. This paper succinctly discusses the background, the main contents, and some thoughts behind the proposal.
