CO₂ Photocatalytic Reduction

When incident light energy is greater than or equal to the forbidden bandwidth of a semiconductor, the electrons in its valence band will be excited to the conduction band, and a reduction reaction will occur. This is the basic principle of the photocatalytic reduction of CO₂. In this paper, we introduce the reaction mechanism of the photocatalytic reduction of CO₂ into C1 products, and we describe the potential applicability of each product.
