We conducted a comparative study of 14 representative organic chemistry textbooks at home and abroad, primarily focusing on the main teaching content, the content layout, information curation, teaching objectives, and the publication scenario. The advantages and disadvantages of developing organic chemistry textbooks in China were analyzed. A few suggestions for the future construction of such textbooks are presented herein.
