Ratiometric Paper-based Fluorescent Sensor Based on Nickel Nanocluster-Europium Mixture for Detection of Tetracyclines: A Research-Oriented Comprehensive Chemistry Experiment

This study presents a research-oriented comprehensive chemistry experiment project. Specifically, a fluorometric sensor based on a nickel nanocluster (NiNC)–europium complex (denoted as NiNCs-Eu³⁺) was developed for the detection of tetracyclines (TCs). This experiment includes the preparation and characterization of NiNCs-Eu³⁺, performance analysis of the response to TCs, construction of the paper-based sensor, and investigation of its visual identification. Overall, this “visible” integrated chemistry experiment is expected to promote the development of comprehensive experimental skills and research capabilities of students because it involves a strongly comprehensive process and simple operation and exhibits high feasibility.
