In order to promote the second batch of the research and practice project for emerging engineering education (3E) sponsored by the Instructional Committee of Chemistry Majors, Ministry of Education set up a survey on the progress of 3E construction based on chemistry majors. This survey mainly concerns the setting of specialty direction, training of students’ practical ability, providing new courses for 3E requirements, and constructing of curriculum module for 3E. The survey results are analyzed in this paper. Some problems with the present construction of 3E majors based on chemistry are found. Some suggestions for future improvement are given.
