Piezoelectric materials have been extensively researched because of their unique piezoelectric conversion properties. More than a century since the discovery of quartz, several types of piezoelectric materials with application in various fields have been reported. This paper introduces the topic of quartz and the principle of the piezoelectric effect, presents the development status and application of piezoelectric materials, and predicts its future. Hopefully, the readers will be interested in chemistry, especially materials chemistry, with explanations based on the principles of some everyday phenomena.
