Selene and COVID-19

  • Selenium, the moon goddess, is one of the indispensable trace elements in the human body. However, both inadequate and excessive intakes of selenium can be harmful to human health. Herein, the discovery process, existing forms, and special properties of selenium are briefly reviewed. Furthermore, the recent research advances and potential application of selenium in the combat against COVID-19 are introduced.
