Without the addition of catalysts and solvents,15 known bis(indolyl) alkane compounds were synthesized under mild conditions from substituted indoles and substituted benzaldehydes in 65%~91% yields.The mechanism of this condensation reaction was discussed and the relationship between reaction speed and substituent groups was described.All the compounds synthesized were confirmed by ¹H NMR,¹³C NMR and IR analysis.
