We demonstrated the preparation of graphene oxide (GO) decorated Co₃V₂O₈ to form (Co₃V₂O₈/rGO) composite through a facile approach combining hydrothermal synthesis with thermal reduction. The XRD, Raman, XPS, SEM, (HR-)TEM, and electrochemical performance tests were used to study the relationship between the physical character and the electrochemical properties of the electrode material. As the anode material, the Co₃V₂O₈/rGO delivered excellent lithium storage properties, stable cycle performance, and high rate capability (1 208 mAh·g^-1 at 200 mA·g^-1 after 100 cycles). It is demonstrated that an enhanced cycle performance can be acquired because graphene can accelerate the electron diffusion among the Co₃V₂O₈ active particles, prevent the aggregation of Co₃V₂O₈ particles, and effectively accommodate the volume variation during the discharge/charge process and offer short pathways for the ions as well as electrons. Meanwhile, the incorporation of the Co₃V₂O₈ particles suppress the stack of graphene layer.
