The crystalline compound[C₄H₃N{CH=NCH(Me)C₆H₅}-2]AlMe₂ was synthesized by the reaction of the ligand (d, l)-N-(2-pyrrolylmethylene)-1-phenylethylamine and trimethylaluminum in high yield. And it was well characterized by ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR spectroscopy, elemental analyses and single crystal X-ray crystallography. Compound[C₄H₃N{CH=NCH(Me)C₆H₅}-2]AlMe₂ is an active initiator for the polymerization of rac-lactide leading to the isotactic-rich polylactides.
