Abstract:
Three new chromophores with triphenylamine as molecular focal point bearing one, two, or three 4-(n-butyloxystyryl) group(s) at the periphery respectively, (named as T1, T2, and T3) have been synthesized and characterized. It is interesting to find that the fluorescence quantum yield increases from T1 (0.489), to T3 (0.535), and to T2 (0.628) in cyclohexane, meanwhile the lifetime for T3 is shorter than T1 and T2, which is an important characteristic for applications in light emitting diode. Also PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) film doped with T3 gives stronger fluorescence than T1, and T2. Cyclic voltammetry showed that T3 exhibited lowest oxidation potential of -0.52 V vs SCE, suggesting its better hole-transport property.

2003, 14(11): 1159-1162
[Abstract](418) [FullText HTML] [PDF 1138KB](0)
Abstract:
Ti-Si mixed oxides with different TiO2 content were prepared by sol-gel one step hydrolysis, using TiCl4 as the precursor. The samples were characterized by BET, FT-IR and XRD. The results indicated that titanium is in fourfold coordination with oxygen in the SiO44- in mixed oxides, form the bond of Ti-O-Si, and the low titania materials are mixed on an atomic scale. The phase of anatase appeared when TiO2 content is up to 80%. The mixed oxides had high specific surface areas up to 681.5 m2/g. 10TiSi is a better support than SiO2 in the reaction of CO oxidation.

2003, 14(11): 1163-1166
[Abstract](440) [FullText HTML] [PDF 1517KB](0)
Abstract:
A simple method to prepare the non-spherical gold particles was developed. The result solution included trigonal, truncated trigonal, hexagonal layers, and a pseudo-pentagonal shaped gold nanocrystals. The key factor is to control the relative rates of nucleation and cluster growth in this method. These attributes make seeding growth method as a useful tool in the fabrication of colloidal metal materials. A longitudinal plasmon resonance of 866 nm was observed, which is in the near-IR spectral regions (600-1000 nm). The excellent optical properties as near-IR labels are used to develop highly sensitive analysis method.

2003, 14(11): 1167-1170
[Abstract](411) [FullText HTML] [PDF 1550KB](0)
Abstract:
Nano-structured SiO2 thin films were prepared on the surface of carbon steel for the first time by LPD. The compositions of the films were analyzed by XPS, and the surface morphology of the thin films were observed by AFM. The thin films were constituted by compact particles of SiO2, and there was no Fe in the films. In the process of film forming, the SiO2 colloid particles were deposited or absorbed directly onto the surface of carbon steel substrates that were activated by acid solution containing inhibitor, and corrosion of the substrates was avoided. The nano-structured SiO2 thin films that were prepared had excellent protective efficiency to the carbon steel.

2003, 14(11): 1175-1178
[Abstract](443) [FullText HTML] [PDF 1558KB](0)
Abstract:
Noodle-like mesoporous silica with a diameter of about 180 nm and a length of ca. 10 μm was prepared through sol-gel process by using poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS)/cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) complex as template. Parallel oriented regular mesopores with a diameter of around 2-4 nm are distributed along the wall of the particles, while the "worm-like" disordered mesopores can be found in the fringe part. This approach provides a new series of templates and a novel route to prepare inorganic mesoporous materials with special morphology.

Abstract:
A new intercalation compound, Fe0.85PS3(4,4'-bipyH)0.30 (4,4'-bipy=4,4'-bipyridine), is obtained by the intercalation of 4,4'-bipyridine·2HCl with lamellar FePS3, which is characterized by elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy. By comparison with the pure FePS3, the lattice spacing of Fe0.85PS3(4,4'-bipyH)0.30 is expanded by~5.7(Å), indicating that the ring plane of the guest is perpendicular to the layer of the host. The magnetic property of Fe0.85PS3(4,4'-bipyH)0.30 is studied with SQUID. It exhibits an antiferromagnetic phase transition with TN of about 70 K.

The relationship between OWFπ-π and molecular structure parameters was obtained by the method of stepwise regression and was explained in terms of quantum theory. OWFπ-π=0.58126+0.04562ANC1+0.03839X. Where, ANC1 and X are the symbols of average net charges on coordinated bonded nitrogens and electronegativity of central atom, respectively.

2003, 14(11): 1199-1202
[Abstract](472) [FullText HTML] [PDF 1585KB](0)
Abstract:
Hydrolysis reaction of L-α-dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (L-DPPC) monolayer with phospholipase D (PLD) has been investigated by Brewster angle microscopy (BAM) combined with the film balance. It has been found that the L-DPPC domains were changed into the "lotus" structure by PLD. It suggests that the hydrolysis reaction is incomplete and the products together with the nonreacted materials undergo a molecular rearrangement at the interface.

[Abstract](468) [FullText HTML] [PDF 1531KB](4)
Abstract:
The stability constants of the binary complexes of Mn2+ with nicotinamide (NA) were determined from potentiometric pH titrations data at 15.0, 25.0 and 35.0℃ and I=0.1,0.2,0.4 mol L-1 (NaClO4). The formation of binary 1:1, 1:2 NA-Mn complexes at three different temperatures and the influence of three different ionic strength on their stability were reported. The thermodynamic parameters (△Gfo, △Sfo, △Hfo) for the complex formation reaction were estimated from stability constant at different temperatures.
